Our idea of a family is to be born into a relationship with the parents where we are loved and wanted. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work that way and that includes how Alba came into the world.
Unfortunately, the little baby was rejected by her mother. After that happened, another 20 families took her in but each of them ended up rejecting her as well. It was after that happened that things began to look up for her.
Luca Trapanese tried to adopt a little girl but he was hitting roadblocks one after another. As a homosexual male living in Italy, he had to deal with a lot of social issues that made it difficult to adopt babies.
They decided to make an exception for him, and he was then able to adopt her. She was a girl with Down syndrome, and they did face challenges along the way, but all in all, they have been in a wonderful relationship that was shared with the world.
When he went to adopt a baby, he was told that he would only be given a child with an illness, a severe disability, or behavioral problems. Little did they know that he would be perfectly fine with any of those options.
The adoption took place in 2017 when she was 13 days old. Up until that time, 20 families had already turned down the option of adopting her because of her medical condition.
As far as Luca was concerned, however, she brought him a sense of fulfillment and much happiness and he was proud to be her father.
Becoming the father was not something that Luca took lightly. He had worked at facilities for people with special needs and he had always had a desire to be a dad, but it was a long time coming.
It all started when he became very committed to helping people in need because his best friend died at the age of 14 from cancer. He works through Catholic charities in order to help others.
When he had the option to adopt a little girl, he decided that he would go all in. Even though he doesn’t live with anyone or have a girlfriend, he was still willing to become her father.
Alba is a very determined and stubborn young child at times. She is also social, and enjoys dancing and singing.
The new father said it was the first time he had ever held a newborn baby and he was frightened, but for the moment he held her, he knew they were meant to be together.
He continues to document their journey through life together to his Instagram followers, which number in the hundreds of thousands. They enjoy spending time with each other and have lived through a pandemic, but have come out on the other side stronger for it.
We wish them many years of happiness together.
