They Posted Their Daughter’s Last Moment On Facebook

One of the most difficult things a parent can go through is to lose their child to death. It is unthinkable that somebody should have to go through it but unfortunately, it happens all too often.

This was also something that happened with a family that lost their daughter to cancer. She was only three years old when she was diagnosed, and the last moment they were together was documented and shared for the world to see.

It all started when Zoey was three years old and she fell when playing. She lost power in both of her hands within a few weeks, and the family knew that they had to have her checked.

They went to the hospital and after some tests were done, the doctor came in to give them the news. Their daughter was suffering from a rare and aggressive brain tumor, a condition known as DIPG.

The mother, Casey, said they didn’t know what to do or where to go at that point because there was not any hope for their little girl. Suddenly, they found themselves fighting, not only the cancer but also their own feelings so they could remain strong for their little girl.

Zoey went through treatments for cancer for the next two years. She had even responded to treatments in Germany, but it was a temporary fix. She started going downhill quickly.

They called the family and told them to come visit Zoey before she passed away. That moment happened on July 4, 2018.

She was on the couch with her parents, spending the day singing Disney songs and watching Harry Potter. Somewhere in the middle of the movie, her little heart stopped beating.

The mother made the difficult decision to share the last moment together with their little girl on Facebook. She feels it is a beautiful moment for them, despite the fact that it was unspeakably painful.

Casey said: “I had seen a handful of families sharing moments and originally I didn’t think I was going to share it. ‘But I thought: “I want a photo like that taken”. I want those moments captured so I can remember them forever even when my brain is gone.”

The family is hoping to share the joy that she brought to them with the world. They also want to inspire others to love to the fullest extent possible, and to live their life one day at a time.
