Move Over Johnny Depp: Ayo Edebiri Is About To Become The Next Sparrow

When you think about the movie, Pirates of the Caribbean, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? Like many people, you probably think about Johnny Depp and his iconic role in that movie.

The Pirates of the Caribbean series just continues to move forward and there has been some talk recently about replacing Johnny Depp. Although it isn’t official, it has been rumored that Ayo Edebiri might be the replacement, and fans are thrilled.

Things started to go downhill for Depp when he was in the publicized legal battle with his ex-wife, Amber Heard. That was in 2022, but people are still talking about it today. Because of it, rumors flew that he was not going to be part of the Pirates franchise any longer.

Then again, Johnny Depp was not on board with the process and when a question came up at the trial, he said that it was true that he would reject any offer they gave to them.

He was asked: “If Disney came to you with $300 million and a million alpacas, nothing on this earth would get you to go back and work with Disney on a Pirates of the Caribbean film?”

His reply was simple, he said: “That is true.”

He did talk about the time that he spent on screen as Sparrow and how much she enjoyed working with the production company. He said: “Captain Jack Sparrow was a character that I had built from the ground up and was something that I put a lot of – you put a lot of yourself into characters.

“And also having worked on those films with those people, and having put a lot of my own rewriting, dialogue, scenes, and jokes and whatever they are,” he told the jury at the time. “I didn’t quite understand how, after that long relationship, and quite a successful relationship, certainly for Disney, that suddenly I was guilty until proven innocent.”

Now that his part in the movie has come to an end, there has been a lot of discussion over who would take the place of Jack Sparrow. Margot Robbie seem to be the one that would take the job but that didn’t work out.

The producer, Jerry Bruckheimer did talk about how the film was moving forward. He said: “It’s alive for me. It’s alive for Disney.

“I’m sure she was disappointed it didn’t go first, or maybe not because she’s very busy, so it might be a blessing to push this a bit. We believe we’ll get it made. It’s a very strong story.”

Although is not guaranteed that Ayo Edebiri will be taking the role, it will be interesting to see where we go from here.
