Christina Applegate Spends Her Days Alone In Bed Watching TV

Many celebrities see their ups and downs and Christina Applegate has certainly seen hers. In fact, she has seen such a decline in her health in recent years that she even admits that she’s afraid to take anymore showers.

This isn’t the first time that she has had health problems. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, had to leave her acting career and has been relying on her husband and daughter as a support system ever since.

You probably remember Christina Applegate from her fame in the 1980s. Regardless of whether she was starring in Married with Children or a variety of movies, she always brought something interesting to the screen.

That all changed, however, when she received a double mastectomy in 2008. It was partially because of a cancer scare, and it was really a preventative measure because of the possibility that she would have cancer.

In 2007, she also had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed surgically. That was followed by a health issue that happened three years later and she told fans about it. It happened in August 2021, when 49-year-old Applegate said she had multiple sclerosis.

Suddenly, she found it challenging to work on a daily basis but she continued in her role until it was over at the end of the year. She had to use a wheelchair and get assistance and she had to use a cane for balance and support.

Eventually, she decided to step away from her acting career and to focus on her healthcare. She said that she probably was not going to work on camera again but was glad that she got to work with some great people in her life.

In 2023, Christine Applegate said that she was going to do a voiceover job to bring in some income. She isn’t looking forward to going back to the set because of the progressive disease that will eventually get worse.

At this point in her life, she is dealing with mobility and she can’t go anywhere without her wheelchair or cane. Since she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, she hasn’t had any good days but some are better than others.

She also had to change what she did in life to avoid getting injured, including not taking showers because of slipping and falling. Because of that fear, she finds herself moving less and stays in bed watching television most of the day.

She puts items at the top of the staircase that need to be brought downstairs but she isn’t able to do it on her own. They refer to it as purgatory in her home.

Even simple things, such as wearing a bra can be difficult for the former actress. She is thankful for the adaptive clothing that was released by Kim Kardashian’s clothing brand for people who have difficulties with mobility.

When you find yourself in such a situation, you begin to reflect on life and you often feel as if you didn’t appreciate the smaller things.

She said: “None of us knew I was going to be sick and gain 40 pounds from medication and have immobility. It was really difficult to not have my own personal feelings shadow what Jen was feeling. A lot of the words were really difficult to say […].”

We wish her all the best and hope that she is able to find happiness in life.
